Abstract

he increasing electricity demand in urban areas such as DKI Jakarta necessitates transmission capacity enhancement without the high costs and long timelines of new infrastructure development. Conductor uprating is an effective solution; however, it requires thorough technical evaluation to ensure safety and reliability, particularly
regarding clearance and structural loading. This study focuses on conductor uprating for Bay Kebun Jeruk 1 and 2 at the Duri Kosambi 150 kV Substation by utilizing Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) technology to obtain high-precision geospatial data. TLS scanning results show that the vertical clearance of 6.4 m and horizontal clearance of 2.0 m are above the minimum limits set by SPLN 64-1:1986 and IEEE Std 524-2016. Technical analysis confirms that TACSR 520 (587.3 mm²) conductors with a 1600 A capacity are suitable to replace the existing OIL CU (800 mm², 920 A) conductors without causing overstress on the structures. The measured tensile load of 735.1 N is well below the safe limit of 30% RTS, and the vertical load is reduced by approximately 48%. All mechanical parameters comply with operational safety standards, allowing the uprating to be executed without structural reinforcement, with TLS data serving as the primary reference for engineering and procurement planning.
