Abstract

Substations play a crucial role in the electrical power transmission system as intermediaries between power generation and distribution. One critical component is the disconnecting switch, which isolates electrical flow during maintenance without interrupting the entire system. However, this component is prone to technical issues such as hot points, or localized overheating, which may lead to severe system failures. This study aims to analyze hot points in disconnecting switches using thermographic methods at the 150kV Substation Bay Trafo 1 Holtekamp PT. PLN (Persero) Jayapura. The methodology includes measuring the temperature difference between clamps and conductors, calculating emissivity values, and conducting precision and accuracy tests. The results reveal five hotspot locations with temperature differences exceeding the normal threshold (>10°C), which require further monitoring. The average emissivity value of 0.48861 falls within the Standard Reference Material (SRM) range for aluminum (0.5), with a coefficient of variation (CV) of 0.69% and an accuracy rate of 97.72%. This research contributes to enhancing substation reliability and efficiency through early detection and prevention of hotspot-induced failures
