Abstract
The increasing demand for electrical energy in Indonesia, which has so far relied on the combustion of fossil fuels, has driven the need to utilize renewable energy sources while supporting the energy transition, one of which is biomass. Riau Province has great potential in this regard, due to the vast plantation and agricultural land that produces organic waste such as palm oil, coconut, rice, rubber, cocoa, coffee, sago, and areca nut waste. This study aims to map the potential of eight biomass wastes in Riau Province using ArcGIS Pro software and analyze the potential for converting these wastes into electrical energy. The methods used include spatial analysis with graduated colors on regional classification based on the amount of waste production distribution of each commodity, as well as the calculation of electrical energy value by using calorific value as an important parameter in the formulation and efficiency of the system in gasification machine technology. The results show that the largest electrical energy potential in Riau Province comes from oil palm empty fruit bunches waste, namely 1,411,798.114 MWh/year and rice straw waste of 325,646.2334 MWh/year.
