Abstract

Earthquakes and fires are two types of natural disasters with high frequency of occurrence and have very dangerous effects, especially in countries with high population density and vulnerable geographic areas such as Indonesia. A country located in the middle of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean like Indonesia is very vulnerable to earthquakes due to active tectonic plate movements. In addition, Indonesia often experiences fires in tropical climates caused by natural and human factors. The impacts of this disaster include loss of infrastructure, property, and loss of life. Therefore, there is an urgency in developing effective technical solutions to minimize the effectiveness of disasters. This study aims to use Internet of Things (IoT) technology to design and build
a comprehensive self-protection system that can recognize and provide early warning of fire and earthquake risks. This system is equipped with various high-sensitivity sensors that allow it to monitor temperature and humidity changes in real time. Significant changes in temperature and humidity can be the first sign of a fire, so this system alerts users of a fire early. In addition, this system is equipped with a vibration sensor that can recognize vibrations caused by earthquakes. The data collected by these sensors is processed by a microcontroller and sent to a data center via an IoT network. Data centers analyze and process data to identify potential hazards.
