The depletion of fossil energy reserves and the impact of climate change have driven many countries to transition toward renewable energy sources. However, the intermittent nature of renewable energy, such as wind power, presents challenges in maintaining the stability of power systems. Therefore, integrating thermal power plants, wind power
generation (PLTB), and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) offers a promising solution within hybrid power systems. This study investigates the application of the Dynamic Economic Dispatch (DED) method to optimize dynamic load distribution in a power system combining thermal generators, PLTB, and BESS. The Quadratic Programming approach is employed to minimize total operating costs using the GAMS software. A 24-hour simulation is conducted, considering the technical characteristics of each generator and the capacity of the BESS.The results show that integrating PLTB and BESS significantly reduces operational costs. In the IEEE 4 Bus system, costs decrease from $647,964 to $223,375, while in the Derawan Island system, costs are reduced from $14,609.1 to $14,558.3. The BESS functions as a load balancer by storing surplus energyand supplying it during periods of low PLTB output. Thus, implementing DED in hybrid power systems improves economic efficiency and energy supply reliability, making it a viable solution to support the transition toward cleaner, more cost-effective, and sustainable energy systems.
