Abstract
A hotspot is an anomaly characterized by an increase in temperature on the Contact finger that exceeds normal limits, which can cause energy loss, mechanical failure, and
a reduction in equipment life. The methods used in this study include measurement and thermal imaging analysis, and evaluation of equipment condition. The results of this study
on DS 7AB3.1 revealed a hotspot at phase S with a temperature of 211°C. Furthermore, in DS 7B5.1 in phase S on the Contact finger, a temperature of 66.5°C was found. Then,
in DS 7A3.3, a hotspot was found on the Contact finger in phase T at 85.6°C. The DS line in Depok showed a temperature value of 86°C in phase S. Based on the frequent issues at
GITET Gandul due to hotspots on the separator, repairs were carried out simultaneously with the replacement of the Contact finger with a newer design. After repairs on DS
7AB3.1, a temperature of 35.625°C was obtained in the phase with a reduction percentage of 83.11%. Further repairs on DS 7B5.1 Phase S resulted in a temperature of 40.65°C with a reduction percentage of 38.8%. Repairs on DS 7A3.3 in Phase T resulted in a temperature reduction to 42.625°C with a reduction percentage in Phase S of 50.20%. Subsequently, improvements to the DS Line Depok in Phase S resulted in a temperature decrease to 42.475°C with a percentage decrease in Phase S of 50.610%. The hotspot values on the Contact fingers can be measured and analyzed.
