Abstract

Jatibaru Road in the Tanah Abang Station area, Central Jakarta has relatively high traffic activity, resulting in side friction that affects road performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of side friction based on PKJI 2023 and evaluate improvement alternatives through road widening and traffic management. Field surveys were conducted over five weekdays during morning, afternoon, and evening periods. The data were analyzed to determine capacity, degree of saturation, freeflow speed, travel speed, and level of service. The results show a degree of saturation of 0.842 with level of service D for Segment I and 0.651 with level of service C for Segment II under existing conditions. A 1.4-meter widening reduces the degree of saturation to 0.775 and 0.599 and increases travel speed to 43.73 km/h and 47.19
km/h. Reducing side friction to a very low category decreases the degree of saturation to 0.772 and 0.596, with level of service improving to C and B. The traffic management scenario also considers bus movements at the U-turn facility. The
results indicate that increasing capacity and reducing side friction can improve Jatibaru Road performance
