The low public awareness of dental health care and the high cost and length of time needed for dental examinations have led to a lack of community interest in dental examinations to the dentist. This research aims to help the public in knowing information about the initial diagnosis of dental disease experienced. This research uses the Certainty Factor method with the Waterfall method as a method of system development and uses system expertise testing in the form of a comparison of the initial diagnosis of the system with diagnosis by experts (dentists) as well as black box testing. Based on the results of the system expertise testing obtained 85% accuracy value from 17 sample data in accordance with expert diagnosis and overall test data totaling 20 data. So it can be concluded that the expert system of dental disease diagnosis can be one of the references in the initial diagnosis of dental disease in RSUD Bima.
