Abstract
Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is an innovative type of concrete capable of flowing and compacting under its own weight without the need for mechanical vibration, making it highly effective for use in reinforced structures with dense rebar arrangements. This study aims to design SCC mixtures using the Nan Su method with variations in the Packing Factor (PF) to determine the optimal composition that meets both workability and compressive strength requirements. The materials used include Portland cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, glass powder and a superplasticizer. Tests were conducted on fresh SCC properties such as slump flow, as well as compressive strength at ages of 28 days. The results show that variations in PF significantly influence the viscosity, flowability, and mechanical strength of the concrete. The optimal PF value was achieved at a point where a balance between flowability and mechanical performance met JSCE specifications. This research demonstrates that the Nan Su method can serve as an effective alternative for designing efficient, economical, and high-performance SCC.
