Abstract

Dalam era digital saat ini, jaringan WLAN menjadi infrastruktur penting yang menunjang berbagai aktivitas, termasuk dalam bidang pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja jaringan WLAN bernama wifiITPLN yang digunakan di lingkungan Institut Teknologi PLN, dengan menganalisis tiga parameter utama Quality of Service (QoS): throughput, delay, dan packet loss. Pengukuran dilakukan di dua lokasi berbeda, yaitu lobby timur dan lobby barat, pada tiga rentang waktu (pagi, siang, dan sore) selama tiga hari berturut-turut. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan perangkat lunak Wireshark dan WiFiman, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif serta menggunakan uji statistik Korelasi Pearson dan Regresi Linier. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa throughput di lobby barat berkisar antara 293–1661 kbps (kategori cukup–baik), lebih baik dibandingkan lobby timur yang hanya mencapai hingga 2,175 kbps (kategori buruk). Rata-rata delay di lobby barat berada di bawah 100 ms (kategori sangat baik), sedangkan di lobby timur mencapai hingga 1469,46 ms (kategori buruk). Packet loss di kedua lokasi tetap rendah pada rentang 0–0,5% (kategori sangat baik). Analisis regresi menunjukkan koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 79,2% di lobby barat dan 78,4% di lobby timur, dengan adjusted R² masing-masing 66,7% dan 65,4%. Upaya peningkatan kinerja dapat dilakukan melalui optimasi penempatan access point, pengaturan jumlah pengguna, evaluasi berkala, dan pemanfaatan dashboard monitoring secara real-time.

In today’s digital era, WLAN networks play a crucial role in supporting various activities, especially in educational environments. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the WLAN network named wifiITPLN at the Institut Teknologi PLN by analyzing three main Quality of Service (QoS) parameters: throughput, delay, and packet loss. Measurements were conducted at two locations, front and back lobbies, during three time intervals (morning, noon, and afternoon) over three consecutive days. Data were collected using Wireshark and WiFiman, then analyzed descriptively and through statistical tests, including Pearson Correlation and Linear Regression. The results show that throughput in the back lobby ranged between 293–1661 kbps (fair–good category), outperforming the front lobby, which only reached up to 2,175 kbps (poor category). The average delay in the back lobby was below 100 ms (excellent category), while the front lobby recorded delays up to 1469.46 ms (poor category). Packet loss in both locations remained low within the range of 0–0.5% (excellent category). Regression analysis revealed a coefficient of determination (R²) of 79.2% in the back lobby and 78.4% in the front lobby, with adjusted R² values of 66.7% and 65.4%, respectively. To improve network performance, optimization can be achieved through better access point placement, user load management, regular evaluations, and the use of real-time monitoring dashboards.
