Abstract

This paper compares B30 fuel and crude palm oil on the Allen 4016 engine at PLTD Merawang. The Allen engine is a diesel-generating unit that uses Biosolar B30 fuel oil. Allen engines can also operate with Marine Fuel Oil (MFO) fuel. This engine is modified to work using crude palm oil fuel and made modifications by installing an electric heater on the fuel tank, a viscometer, and a three-way valve to regulate the fuel supply. This implementation results in diesel engines operating normally and with normal parameters up to 3,000 kilo Watts of power. The Crude Palm Oil (CPO) quality used is under food grade-operation with CPO fuel by reducing the viscosity value of CPO through heating to 11 cST.
