SMS Gateway adalah suatu sistem antar muka antara web/internet dengan sistem seluler dengan menggunakan salah satu fitur yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu SMS. Dengan SMS Gateway ini, pengguna dapat mengirimkan atau menerima SMS dengan antar muka web. Pengguna dapat mengirim SMS ke banyak tujuan (SMS Broadcasting) atau menerima SMS dari pengguna dan dapat menjawabnya secara otomatis (Auto Replying SMS). Dengan antar muka web, maka penggunaannya akan menjadi mudah, siapapun dapat menggunakannya tanpa kesulitan.
SMS Gateway Server adalah sebuah perangkat yang akan menjadi server antar muka yang menghubungkan web dengan operator seluler. Aplikasi ini bersifat lintas operator, jadi pengguna (user) dapat menggunakan operator seluler apapun. SMS Gateway Server dapat berupa sebuah komputer pribadi biasa (PC) atau dapat pula sebuah komputer khusus sekelas server. SMS Gateway Server akan dibuat dengan sistem operasi Windows yang akan dilengkapi dengan Apache PHP Mysql untuk antar muka web. SMS Gateway Server juga akan dilengkapi dengan GSM modem untuk menghubungkannya dengan operator seluler.
Pada Tugas Akhir ini penulis akan membuat perangkat lunak pengaksesan SMS melalui web dan fungsi SMS gateway untuk keperluan berbagai layanan, pengiriman SMS broadcast, dan fitur balas SMS otomatis (auto-reply) dengan bahasa pemrograman PHP, khususnya pemberitahuan pembayaran listrik bulanan pada PT. PLN (Persero) Area Teluk Naga.

SMS Gateway is a system interface between the web / internet with a cellular system using one of the most widely used feature of SMS. With this SMS Gateway, users can send or receive SMS with web interface. Users can send SMS to many destinations (SMS Broadcasting) or receive SMS from users and can answer it automatically (Auto Replying SMS). With a web interface, then its use will be easy, anyone can use it without difficulty.
SMS Gateway Server is a device that will be the server interface that connects the web with mobile operators. This app is cross-operator, so users can use any mobile carrier. SMS Gateway Server can be either a regular personal computer (PC) or a server-specific computer. SMS Gateway Server will be created with Windows operating system which will be equipped with Apache PHP Mysql for web interface. SMS Gateway Server will also be equipped with GSM modem to connect it with mobile operator.
In this Final Project the author will make the software accessing SMS via web and SMS gateway function for various services, sending SMS broadcast, and auto-reply feature with PHP programming language, especially notification of monthly electricity payment at PT. PLN (Persero) Teluk Naga Area.
