This research paper explores the influence of small signal stability analysis on the integration of Wind Power Plants (WPP) using Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) type IIIB technology into a small-scale interconnected power system located on Timor Island, Indonesia. The study encompasses specific criteria for the evaluation of electromechanical oscillations, including damped frequency ranging from 0.1 to 3 Hz and a damping ratio below 10%. It has been noted that the presence of WPP has a detrimental impact on the stability of the power system. This is evidenced by the occurrence of a localized mode at a damped frequency of 1 Hz with a damping ratio of 4%. This mode is directly correlated with the control mechanisms employed within the DFIG itself. Another mode emerges with damped frequencies around 2 Hz and 3 Hz and by looking at the participation factor, the most significant contribution to the mode originates from the biggest unit in the system. The implementation of Power System Stabilizers (PSS) at the biggest unit will induce a leftward shift in these modes, thereby enhancing the overall stability. The study reveals that the positioning of the WPP connection point has a substantial influence on the mode's location and likewise, variations in the WPP's power output affect the state of the mode.
