Library is a place where people read and look for references with various collections of libraries. Even though libraries are now using information technology to display book lists, in the other hand visitors and librarians are not able to know which book are on the bookshelves and should see the bookshelves directly. To help visitors and librarians to identify the book availability, then researcher made a system which can do book availability monitoring on the library bookcase directly. In this thesis, it has been done the design of a system monitor the availability of book on the bookshelf. This system uses the HSV (Hue Saturation Value) color segmentation method to take the color segmentation of the image for the color code of the book. In this system, we used USB camera as a color code image retrieval device book.
Based on the test results it is concluded that the maximum distance of the camera to the bookshelf of the library is 70 cm long with 350 lux ilumination value and the maximum bookshelf width is 35 cm long.
