Kegiatan proyek konstruksi merupakan suatu kegiatan yang berlangsung dalam jangka waktu terbatas dan alokasi sumber daya tertentu. Waste Construction merupakan pemborosan yang tidak akan meningkatkan nilai produk akhir, pemborosan bahan dilokasi proyek, pembelian bahan yang berlebihan serta tenaga kerja yang berlebih yang dapat mengakibatkan waste time construction. Tujuan dari pengamatan ini untuk mengetahui faktor pemborosan waktu (waste time) pada pekerjaan kolom di proyek serta untuk mengetahui waktu normal dan waktu baku standar pekerjaan berdasarkan value stream mapping. Factor pemborosan waktu (waste time) dalam pekerjaan kolom dapat disebabkan oleh pekerja dan peralatan. Adapun, waktu standar untuk melaksanakan pekerjaan yang sebenarnya diperoleh dari perhitungan yaitu pada pekerjaan kolom sekitar 921 menit dengan asumsi 8 jam waktu kerja per-hari maka pelaksanaan normal pekerjaan kolom selama 2 hari. Besar pemborosan waktu (waste time) yang diperoleh berdasarkan value stream mapping pada pekerjaan kolom sebesar 18%.
