Abstract

Power losses in electricity distribution networks remain a major challenge in maintaining system efficiency and reliability. To address this issue, PT PLN (Persero) UID Jakarta Raya UP3 Bandengan has implemented Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) as part of its digital transformation in energy distribution systems. This study aims to evaluate the impact of AMI implementation on the reduction of power losses and to analyze the effectiveness of smart meter data utilization in detecting electrical anomalies.
The analytical methods used include a paired sample t-test to assess the statistical significance of differences in power loss levels before and after AMI implementation, and a one-way ANOVA to reinforce the findings by ensuring that the observed differences did not occur by chance. The data analyzed covers the period from January to March 2025, focusing on single-phase customers.
The analysis results indicate that average power losses decreased from 6.83% to 5.13% after AMI implementation, with a p-value < 0.0001 in the t-test. The ANOVA test yielded an F-value of 251.66 with a p-value of 0.000000000000158, confirming a highly significant difference between the time groups. Furthermore, anomaly detection identified over 240,000 events within three months, with an estimated energy loss of 13 million kWh and a potential economic benefit exceeding IDR 20 billion. These findings reinforce the conclusion that AMI not only enhances consumption recording accuracy but also serves a strategic role in improving distribution efficiency and systematically controlling technical losses.
