Abstract

Pada PLTD, terdapat sebuah komponen penting yaitu connecting rod bearing yang terletak tepat di antara penghubung pangkal connecting rod (batang piston) dan poros engkol (crankshaft). Fungsi dari connecting rod beearing ini adalah untuk mengubah gerak lurus pada piston menjadi gerak putar yang terdapat di poros engkol. Di PLTD Waeana Jayapura ditemukan kerusakan yang terjadi pada connecting rod bearing sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab kerusakan connecting rod bearing tersebut. Metode yang dilakukan dalam penelitian adalah metode observasi visual, pengujian kekerasan, pengujian komposisi kimia, pengujian metalografi struktur mikro dan pengujian SEM-EDS mapping. Dari hasil pengujian metalografi ditemukan fasa pearlite dan juga terjadi rekristalisasi pada struktur material pada pengujian SEM terdapat lubang kecil akibat dari segragasi dan juga pengaruh tumbukan dari piston pada poros engkol (crankshaft), pada komposisi material terdapat unsur karbon (C), elektron (Bse), Silikon (Si),besi (Fe) dan timah
(Sn).

In a diesel power plant, there is an important component, namely the connecting rod
bearing which is located right between the connecting rod base and the crankshaft The function of the connecting rod beearing is to change the straight motion of the piston into a rotary motion on the crankshaft. At the Jayapura Waena diesel power plant, damage was found in the connecting rod bearing, so this study aims to determine the factors causing the connecting rod bearing damage. The methods used in this research are visual observation methods, hardness testing, chemical composition testing, microstructure testing and SEM-EDS mapping testing. From the results of the metallographic test found ferrite da pearlite, in SEM testing there were small holes due to segragation and also the impact of the piston on the crankshaft (crankshaft), the material composition contained elements of carbon (C), electrons (Bse), silicon (Si), iron (Fe) and tin (Sn).
