Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memperoleh informasi terkait efektivitas High Pressure Heater 5 PLTU Ombilin unit 2. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan melakukan pengamatan langsung di PLTU Ombilin, wawancara di bagian rendal operation mengenai HPH di unit pelaksana PLTU Ombilin dan studi literatur yang berhubungan dengan penelitian yang ditulis seperti mempelajari jurnal – jurnal dari perpustakaan. Peneltian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komponen ini dalam kondisi bagus atau tidak saat dioperasikan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan pada periode bulan April 2020 sampai dengan Bulan Oktober 2020 pada high pressure heater 5 pada unit 2 di PLTU Ombilin pada beban 92 MW terjadi penurunan nilai laju perpindahan panas pada bulan April 2020 (24332,59 kW), Juni 2020 (23185,18 kW) dan Oktober 2020 (18238,69 kW) disebabkan tidak adanya pemeliharaan pada komponen ini. Nilai efektivitas terjadi penurunan pada bulan April 2020 (0,76), Juni 2020 (0,57), Oktober 2020 (0,533). Temperatur masuk dan keluar dari High Pressure heater perlu diperhatikan apabila terjadi penurunan temperatur pada air Umpan kemungkinan terjadi pengotoran (fouling) pada dinding permukaan alat penukar kalor dipengaruhi oleh kandungan mineral pada demin water yang terbawa aliran fluida dan mengendap pada dinding alat penukar kalor.

This study aims to see and obtain information that has the ability of High Pressure Heater 5 PLTU Ombilin unit 2. The research method used is the quantitative research method by making direct observations at the Ombilin PLTU, interviews in the rendal operation section regarding HPH in the Ombilin PLTU implementation unit and literature studies related to written research such as studying journals from the library This research aims to determine whether this component is in good condition or not when it is operated. The results of this study conclude that in the period April 2020 to October 2020 on high pressure heater 5 at unit 2 at PLTU Ombilin at a load of 92 MW. there was a decrease in the value of the heat transfer rate in April 2020 (24332.59 kW), June 2020 (23185.18 kW) and October 2020 (18238.69 kW) due to the absence of maintenance on this component. The effectiveness value decreased in April 2020 (0.76), June 2020 (0.57), October 2020 (0.533).The temperature in and out of the High Pressure heater needs to be considered if there is a decrease in temperature in the feed water, the possibility of fouling on the surface wall of the heat exchanger is influenced by the mineral content in the demin water which is carried by the fluid flow and settles on the wall of the heat exchanger.
