Abstract
Boiler merupakan sebuah alat penukar kalor yang digunakan untuk produksi
listrik dengan bahan bakar utama batubara. Di PT PLN (Persero) UPK Ombilin
penggunaan bahan bakar disesuaikan dengan desain boiler. Batubara yang dipasok
berasal dari beberapa perusahaan yang berbeda sehingga berimplikasi pada nilai kalor
berkisar diatas 5000 kcal/kg. Nilai kalor batubara yang digunakan pada setiap
pengoperasian memiliki nilai kalor yang berbeda sehingga berpengaruh pada efisiensi
boiler dan SFC (specific fuel consumtion). Berdasarkan nilai kalor 5.536 kcal/kg memiliki
nilai efisiensi sebesar 89,77 % dan specific fuel consumtion sebesar 0,455 kg/kWh dengan
coal flow 47,07 t/h. Nilai kalor 5.686 kcal/kg memiliki nilai efisiensi sebesar 89,57 % dan
specific fuel consumtion sebesar 0,534 kg/kWh dengan coal flow 55,21 t/h. Nilai kalor
5.805 kcal/kg memiliki nilai efisiensi sebesar 89,92 % dan specific fuel consumtion
sebesar 0,433 kg/kWh dengan coal flow 44,81 t/h. Nilai kalor 5.838 kcal/kg memiliki
nilai efisiensi sebesar 91,01 % dan specific fuel consumtion sebesar 0,457 kg/kWh dengan
coal flow 47,28 t/h. Nilai kalor 6.062 kcal/kg memiliki nilai efisiensi sebesar 92,98 % dan
specific fuel consumtion sebesar 0,353 kg/kWh dengan coal flow 36,52 t/h. Dari beberapa
hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi nilai kalor pada suatu bahan bakar
batubara maka semakin tinggi nilai efisiensi boiler serta semakin tinggi nilai kalor
batubara maka semakin rendah specific fuel consumtion dengan faktor penyebabnya juga
dipengaruhi oleh coal flow.
Boiler is a heat exchanger used for electricity production with coal as the main
fuel. At PT PLN (Persero) UPK Ombilin the use of fuel is adjusted to the boiler design.
Coal supplied comes from several different companies, so the calorific value is above
5000 kcal/kg. The calorific value of coal used in each operation has a different calorific
value so that is affects the efficiency of the boiler and SFC (specific coal consumtion).
Based on the calorific value of 5.536 kcal/kg kcal/kg has an efficiency value of 89,77 %

concluded that the higher calorific value of a coal fuel, the higher the boiler efficiency
value and the higher calorific value of coal, the lower specific fuel consumtion with the
causal factor also influenced by coal flow.
