Abstract
The decline in efficiency of the steam turbine system at Unit 1 of PLTU Jawa Barat 2 Pelabuhan Ratu presents a significant issue affecting the operational performance of the power plant. Prior to the overhaul, the turbine efficiency decreased due to several factors, including steam leaks, internal friction, damage to the turbine blade, and the accumulation of deposits on the heat exchanger surfaces. The high value of the Turbine Heat Rate (THR) reflects significant energy losses, impacting operational costs and the effectiveness of converting energy into mechanical work. To address this issue, a comprehensive overhaul of the turbine system was conducted. The overhaul process included the repair of critical components such as the turbine blade, seal, and bearing, as well as the cleaning of the system to remove deposits that hindered steam flow. These measures aimed to reduce energy losses and enhance operational efficiency. With the implemented repairs, it is expected that the turbine system can operate more optimally. The analysis results after the overhaul indicate a significant improvement in the efficiency of the steam turbine system. The efficiency of the HP turbine increased at a load of 97% from 85.72% to 87.27%, while the efficiency of the IP turbine also showed a significant increase at a load of 85% from 90.86% to 92.74%. The most significant reduction in THR occurred at a load of 85%, decreasing from 2290.61 Kcal/Kwh to 2128.00 Kcal/Kwh. Overall, the overhaul not only improved the technical performance of the turbine but also provided economic benefits through energy savings and reduced operational costs.
