PT.PLN (Persero) PUSLITBANG Ketenagalistrikan khususnya di Laboratorium Hubung Singkat Duri Kosambi, dimana alat – alat kelistrikan diuji untuk melihat atau mencocokkan apakah sudah sesuai dengan ( Standar PLN ) sebelum dipakai di PLN unit, salah satu alat kelitrikan yang diuji yaitu Lightning Arrester tipe baru (SAi20z), Arrester adalah sebagai alat pengaman Jika terjadi gangguan Arrester akan berfungsi sebagai konduktor dan jika saat normal arrester berfungsi sebagai isolator. Untuk arrester tipe lama menyalurkan tegangan lebih ke bumi sedangkan arrester tipe baru menyalurkan tegangan lebih melalui saluran keudara, dan arrester tipe lama kutup pentanahan terhubung dengan konduktor sedangkan arrester tipe baru memiliki (air gap) selah udara 6 cm kemudian jarak maksimal 8 cm antara konduktor dengan arrester Maka dari itu penulisan akan membahas tentang “Pemasangan Lightning Arester tipe lama dengan Lightning Arester tipe baru (Sai20z) pada jaringan (SUTM) 20 kV”
